Born and raised in New York City, I have studied, worked, and lived in Glasgow, London and Chicago, graduating from the theatre program at Northwestern University, and later earning my MFA in Directing from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. I’ve worked at theatres such as Paramount Theatre, Porchlight Music Theatre, Shakespeare’s Globe, Glasgow Centre for Contemporary Arts, and Northwestern University’s Wirtz Center. I’m currently based in New York and continue to work in the UK and beyond.
In my work, I am interested in resilience, and locating hope and connectedness in an increasingly chaotic and transactional world. I consider storytelling to be a task of meaning-making and believe that in the repetition and embodiment of our stories we find strength and agency. I run collaborative, ensemble-based rehearsal rooms, rooted in this purpose, and influenced by collective creativity and the principles of devising. A trained dancer, I also centre physicality and embodiment practices in the rehearsal room.
Recent, ongoing areas of research and inquiry include impermanence and change; urbanity, transactionalism and loneliness; and the identity of the artist.
